MEMPHIS YOUTH EQUESTRIAN TEAM (MYET)
Leveling the Playing Field: We provide opportunities & Seek Excellence in both Education AND Riding. Putting Horses First!
"As the Championship IEA Team in the Memphis area and in our Zone 4 region in our first season in 2019, we could list out our team and individual accolades and competition placings here; however, THAT is not why we are here! We are here to offer Memphis Area youth and adults opportunities to learn, grow, and ride!
IF you are an adult or child who does NOT own a horse of your own, reach out to us.! We want to find a way for you to learn and ride horses-even if financial hardship! We offer LIMITED working student opportunities to those willing to work to learn and ride if you think you are unable to afford it. My horses, my program, myself, and my team are here for YOU to take advantage of opportunities I will offer you to excel with horses if you are committed and willing to roll up your sleeves, work hard, and earn opportunities to learn and participate with horses while maintaining with a willing, positive, and respectful attitude. Yes ma'am, yes sir, and thank you, along with appreciation, courtesy, and respect are the standard here- NO EXCEPTION"
Ashlee Pigford
Open to riders NOT showing at Rated Competitions!
We no longer host an IEA team. It is not aligned to the goals we have for our group moving forward. We are grassroots for our group of locals so that we can offer more affordable and flexible out of the box Equestrian Team options for our youth and adults!
This team has a format that does not put so much physical burden on the horse. That does NOT view the horse as a mean to an end focused on horse show competition outcomes and points. We will have new milestones, requirements, and organization that offers us greater affordability, flexibility, and creativity than what we had in the IEA horse-show system.
When I see a trend of rigidity, prices increasing, and more regulation, requirements, inflexibility, last minute decisions being made impacting my group's ability to participate in out-of-town competitions, and repeated scheduling conflicts with affordable local opportunities for our kids, I have to adapt and change in directions my kids and parents are asking for, So, we are going rogue and will see what fun transpires for all. One thing we guarantee, great learning and growth will happen, and this decision will positively impact our local horse community and industry! More to come...
This Team Represents....
We teach a different form of horsemanship to Team students and clients- one centered on respect and welfare for the horse. One focused on awareness of what we do with horses and connection. We are focused on learning WHY's and understanding the horse NOT just riding the horse. Horses are NOT machines used for our student's means to compete. Our horses are NOT desensitized due to overuse, they are NOT over jumped, (They are cross trained in multiple disciplines as are our students,) our horses are NOT worked in spurs, and harsh bits and training devices to satisfy quick training results. We drill-down to root causes based on behavior, horse physiology, horse psychology, nutrition, horse health, and incorporate the help of a team of experts along each horse's journey to create success stories and happy, healthy horses.
Our Memphis Youth Equestrian Team learns from us along with trusted experts and partners from the Global Equine Community how to accomplish harmony, connection, and success with horses in order to become better humans. Our team has opportunities to locally participate in activities, events, clinics, lessons, and community partnerships that create future leaders in the equine industry and equestrian sport in an outside the box arena. We host events at our facility currently that are fun for the entire family.

- Education first
- Horses first
- We support local community outreach and service
- Our kids earn opportunities through work and effort.
- We stand for teaching that opportunities in life are earned, not given because of one's ability to pay to play!
- Education, dedication, commitment, knowledge, and compassion for the well-being of horses and your team-mates first, along with good sportsmanship is more important to us than being able to pay fees required to compete at out-of-town horse shows.

WHO IS THE MEMPHIS YOUTH EQUESTRIAN TEAM?
The Memphis Youth team's mission is....
Currently, we accept adults and youth in the Memphis, Collierville, Germantown, Olive Branch, and Midsouth area. Our Team is one-of- a kind, year-round, fun, educational, and a more affordable way to participate in equestrian sports than traditionally- when having to own or lease a horse of your own. |
