WHO WE ARE
Trainer/ Coach: Ashlee Pigford

As the Trainer and Coach of Meadowthorpe Farm my primary goal is to encourage more kids & adults in the Memphis, TN area to experience horses, and to provide a place for folks to do so affordably! Meadowthorpe Farm is a unique setting, grounded in heart and education. Horses and people are more than just business and absolutely more than horse showing to me. I want to educate people how to better understand horses in order to communicate with them in a way that fully connects us to horses and therefore, to ourselves!
An evolution of increased awareness, understanding, and appreciation of self, our world, and our value occurs through time spent with horses. My mission is to share the magic and power that horses have to share with us, so that we can share our magic with our world!
I have over forty years' experience with horses, being a third-generation horse woman. My horse roots can be traced back to my maternal grandmother, who worked as a teenager at thoroughbred racehorse tracks in Cuba! My mom grew up riding and showing American Saddlebred horses and breeding them. I spent my first eight years traveling to Saddlebred Shows around the South and in Kentucky watching my mom and family show and compete at nationally rated horse shows. I started riding hunter/jumpers at age 7 in Germantown, TN and have been hooked on horses since!
My specialty is project and training horses and I take pride in taking the time needed for solid and safe training. Caring for cast-away horses and unveiling their hidden value/worth and sharing this mindset with others is a passion. I am proud to have yet to purchase a fully trained, push-button, show-ready, horse! Which is one reason I support reputable horse rescue organizations, Local Horse Shows, Off the Track Rescue, Thoroughbred (OTTB) rehab/retraining programs, and Horse Trainer's with a soft-spot for rescuing, retraining, and re-homing horses in need and kill-pen rescues. It's a special experience to match a horse in need with the right person for them!
