More About Our Lessons....
We offer lessons to both adults and children who are committed to participation in our program (Western and English lessons are available). Whether you are interested in riding horses for pleasure, show, or both, we can accommodate you on your own horse or leased Meadowthorpe Farm horse. There's more to horses than just riding! Lessons at Meadowthorpe Farm focus on developing sound overall horsemanship skills. We teach the care and handling necessary to safely work with horses... safety of horse and rider comes first! Because understanding horse behavior is important, we teach riders how to think like a horse does! Taking the time to learn good basics pays off and produces better, well-rounded equestrians. We don't rush students to learn on "our schedule " because we want our lessons to be an enjoyable and successful experience that leaves everyone feeling happy and accomplished at the end of a session.
We are an ideal program for students who enjoy a quaint, quiet environment with personalized, one-to-one attention, and customized coaching. We avoid sensory overload-with too many riders and/or lessons happening in the ring at one time. Each student is unique, and our training reflects this.
TRAINING RIDES
All boarded horses at this facility MUST maintain adequate fitness levels in order to keep a stall at our facility. (Twice weekly ride requirement minimum!) This is important for mental and emotional well-being for our equine residents and to prevent boredom. Exceptions: injured/retired horses or otherwise as communicated with management. Training rides will be scheduled for times when residents can't be worked by their owners OR as needed/desired by owners when "tune-ups" are needed. Short-term training board clients are accepted for Sale Prospects!
